Program: Clinical Medical Assistant

 

Clinical Medical Assistants work in clinics, doctor’s offices, and hospitals, performing routine clinical tasks. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining procedures, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting physicians during the exams. Medical assistants collect and prepare lab specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, take electrocardiograms, sterilize medical instruments, remove sutures, change dressings, and many other clinical and patient-related duties as directed by a physician. In this program, you will learn basic medical office administrative skills, comprehensive medical office clinical skills, medical terminology, and basic medical procedures to prepare you for employment as a Clinical Medical Assistant.

Open-entry/Open-exit: Approximately 900 hours

TATC Campus

8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday
8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Fridays

 

Math and English levels:
Adult students will be assessed using the Test of Adult Basic English (TABE) Locator and Survey or through high school or college transcripts. High School students will be assessed by their counselor.

 

Admission Requirements:

 • At least 16 years old at time of training

 • Must be 18 prior to the clinical/externship

 • Background check and drug screen (prior to clinicals)

 • Immunizations: MMR/Titer, Varicella, TDaP, Hepatitis B series

 • Current TB test and/or X-ray

 

Occupation & Licensure Requirements:

 • Must be 18 years old

 • Employers may have additional requirements

 

Average Starting Wage:

$12.50 per hour
