Program: Phlebotomy Technician
Phlebotomy is the drawing of blood for transfusion, diagnosis, or experiment, especially in the treatment of sickness or disease. Phlebotomists work in clinics, doctor’s offices, and hospitals, performing routine clinical tasks revolving around the drawing of blood. As a phlebotomist, you may be responsible for taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining procedures, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting physicians during blood drawings. Phlebotomists collect and prepare blood & urine specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. The TATC Phlebotomy program will prepare you to work as a phlebotomist and may also be taken as a component of the Clinical Medical Assistant program.
