Course: Managing a Windows Network Environment

 

Course Description

In this course, students will learn the basics of administering, supporting, and troubleshooting information systems that incorporate Windows. This course also prepares student for exams such as the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exam, which is one exam in the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certifications.

 

Certificate

Completion of this course certifies proficient Windows system administration skills based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.

 

This course is not required by any Information Technologies Programs.

 

Competencies (skills you will learn)

     •   Create, configure, manage, secure, and troubleshoot file, print, and web resources

     •   Configure, administer, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure

     •   Manage, secure, and troubleshoot servers and client computers

     •   Configure, manage, secure, and troubleshoot active directory organizational units and group policy

     •   Configure, secure, and troubleshoot remote access

 

Course Structure

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.

 

Course Length

The estimated length of this course is 90 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Information Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
