Course: Welding Blueprint Reading
Course Description
Learn welding symbols and how to read blueprints for the various welding processes.
Certificate
Completion of this course certifies proficient blueprint reading skills based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skills Competence is available upon request.
Competencies (skills you will learn)
• Describe the basics of joint design
• Identify the parts of a welding symbol
• Explain the parts of a groove preparation symbol
• Describe how nondestructive test symbols are used
• List the five major types of joints
• List seven types of welding grooves
• Lay out a basic welding project
Course Structure
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length
The estimated length of this course is 15 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.
Admission Requirements
Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll in this course. Also, the Welding Introduction and Safety Course must be completed prior to this course.
